DIY Cake Pennant

I have a huge family and therefore have attended many weddings. Of all the weddings, I can only name one cake topper I remember and that was at my sister's. I probably only remember that one because I bought it for them. Other than that, I couldn't tell ya. No clue what anyone else had {sorry!}

The cake topper is a detail that on the scale of importance, ranks pretty low to the bottom for us. So when people started asking what we were having atop our cake a few weeks before the wedding, I started to get a little nervous because honestly, we hadn't thought about it.

I looked through some images of cakes to see what kinds of toppers might suite our cake nicely. This is one we both agreed fit the vibe we were going for.

I asked around and searched the web to try to find one similar {that could be ready in a week}. I found similar items on SofiasHouse Etsy page.

But then I decided instead of paying $15, I'd make one myself. We had some leftover scraps from the Menus and Programs that were the perfect size for the pennants. I strung the pennants together with needle and a gray thread, then added our initials and wedding date. I tied them to Popsicle sticks and we had ourselves a fairly decent cake topper folks.
This was probably one of the easiest projects for our wedding. It took me all of 30 minutes to put the entire thing together. I used my Silhouette to cut the shapes and letters, which made the cutting process super quick.
The needle easily pierced the paper without much force so the paper wasn't bend or misshaped.
A very simple and quick cake topper that we would remember but also wouldn't have to spend any money on. Which is lucky because after the reception the topper "disappeared" and I would have been very disappointed had any $$ been spent.

Money Saved: $15
Time: 30 minutes
