Top Ten Gifts for Any Busy Person Who Wants to be Organized

Phew, that is quite a title! I originally thought it would be "Top 10 Christmas gifts for her", then "...for the busy mom", then "for the busy, but organized, mom", and then I just decided to get real and let you all know, these are the top gifts {in my humble opinion} for anyone who wants to save time, stress, and desires to be organized.

Ok, without anymore run on sentences, here are my top items {in no particular order}! Each of these items save time in some way in my life and make life more convenient. They may not make your home perfectly organized or make you appear to have your life 100% together, but they are definitely one step closer!

1. Dyson {particularly this one}
This is the BIG ticket item on this list. But, it's totally worth every single hay penny. Especially if you're a mother of a child who is eating table food, or if you have a pet, or if you prefer to spot vacuum rather than spend the afternoon vacuuming your entire house.
The Dyson V6 Motor Head Cord Free Vacuum
I'm sure there are newer versions out there that are better in some way with more features, but personally I love this little vacuum. It's portable, it's easy to use on stairs, it picks up dirt from our rugs and hardwood nicely, and if you remove the bottom head {this version comes with two tools}, you have one of the most expensive spider killers in the land. That alone, is worth the price for me.

2. Contigo Coffee Mug

One of my most favorite things ever is a hot cup of coffee. I never realized how much I loved this until it stopped happening. On my desk at work I used to have a coffee warmer to keep my delicious beverage at the perfect temperature until the last drop. Well, I no longer sit at a desk to enjoy my coffee. Instead, I'm running after a small 1 year old, ensuring he doesn't take his own life with literally anything he can find in our house, and sneaking a sip of lukewarm coffee when I slip passed the random spot I left my mug. No more guys, no more. I now have hot coffee for every sip until I finish it, which is typically around 1pm.
At first I was only using this insanely amazing travel mug when traveling, and then one bright shining morning the light bulb clicked and now I use it for every cup of coffee I pour. Here are my bullet point reasons for why this mug is awesome and why you should add it to your list:
  • It keep hot drinks hot, and cold drinks cold, for a very, very long time.
  • It doesn't spill. Ever. Not even when LBJ vigorously shakes it up and down like a Shake Weight. Not. A. Drop.
  • It's easy to clean. Dishwasher. Done.
  • It doesn't wear down. I am still rocking the same mug that was purchased over a year ago. It gets washed daily, then reused. And it still functions exactly as nicely as it did when we purchased it.
  • It locks. So there's a little button you need to push in order to enjoy your beverage {no lid to flip!} which already makes it mildly childproof, and more spill proof. But there is also a lock feature so you can chuck it in your bag and literally not worry at all about coffee leaking all over your belongs. And when going through a grocery store, your child can hold it and be easily entertained, without worrying that they will open it {I speak from experience}.
  • It fits my cup holder. I realize this may not be a huge selling point for some people, but maybe you just haven't experienced a situation when you have a perfectly made beverage and then you try to fit it in your cup holder, and it doesn't fit!! Never had that issue with this guy. He's wonderful
And it comes in all of these fun colors
I totally stole this idea from a new friend, and fellow blogger, I recently organized for. She got one for her family to put up in her office and I am mildly obsessed. If you haven't moved to completely electronic for your calendar and family schedule, add this to your list. It literally has everything!
The Amazon photo doesn't really sell it nicely so let me tell you a little more about how Amy uses it. Each member of her family gets a color {organized bliss}. She has special reminders and inspiration pinned to the cork at the bottom. Oh, and it comes with a couple of handy magnets, because it is perfect. Here is a  {not so great} image of Amy's, with her color coordination.

4. Command Hooks/Strips
Surprise, surprise, command hooks are on this list. The holidays are a great time for these little guys, simply to hang wreaths or to use for Christmas lights. But I also use them for just about everything anyway.

The picture hanging velcro strips are one of my favorites and I honestly don't think I will hang a frame without them anytime in the near future. I'll tell you a little secret, that calendar and gallery wall I put together with my friend Amy, all command strips.

5. Label Maker

I label just about anything that makes sense to label, and possibly things that don't make sense. Here is a small list of things you can label:

  • Files/folder
  • Shelves in closets/cabinets
  • Bins, baskets, boxes
  • Cords
  • Children's items {lunch boxes, toothbrushes}
  • Your Contigo mug so everyone knows you're not sharing it

Epson LabelWorks LW-300

The list can go on, but you get the idea. I love this label maker because of it offers so many options and you can easily change out what color tape to use. I feel a little weird and nerdy rambling on about a label maker so I'm going to stop now, but it's one of my favorite things. Just sayin...

6. Collapsible Measuring Cups
I actually wrote an entire blog post about these measuring spoons. So in short, I love them. They keep my drawers organized, they're easy to store, and come in fun colors.

I also love the measuring spoons they sell, just in case anyone wanted to stick a few in my stocking this year {hint, hint, Santa}

7. Velcro Cord Ties
I hate cords. I would make our entire home cordless if I could. But since that's not really in the cards for me, I will instead embrace the cords and try to keep them organized and stored as neatly and nicely as I possibly can. I love these velcro ties and have added them to my list this year.

8. Good Food Storage Set
Ok, these three are my favorites. Yes, I own all three and use them all for different purposes.
Oxo / Rubbermaid / Snapware
The Oxo set I use for food storage in our pantry, like pasta, rice, or flours. I love how much easier it it to store things this way versus using the box. I can easily see how much we have left and it takes up less space than a box. I know some people find it silly to transfer food from box to container, but for me, it's totally worth the few seconds it takes.

I use the Rubbermaid set as my go to tupperware containers. I love that the lids are easily stackable and the different sizes are a perfect range. We save anything from LBJ's leftovers to entire meals we can freeze and eat later. This one is definitely the best bang for your buck!

The Snapware set I use to store snacks and cereals. It's perfect for things like Goldfish crackers {especially if you buy the Costco size}. LBJ will walk around with the container in hand and it won't pour out everywhere, at least not yet.

9. Emergency Kit
I've been carrying around one of the Shemergency kits for probably seven years now. While most of the items have been replenished, I've never stopped carrying one. I can honestly say that I have used every single item in the kit, as have many of my friends in times of need. I even used the needle and thread to sew a button back into place in the back of a cab one time. True story, Brit can vouch for me.
this is the larger version, but they also sell minis
If you're not someone who carries a purse {or diaper bag} constantly, give one to your best friend and just use her stuff when you need it. It's a great stocking stuffer or gift for any female in your life. Side note: they have ones for men as well so don't completely count them out on this gift!

10. Magnetic Car Mount

Full disclosure, I was pretty against these when I got my car. I hate having things "out" and hated the idea of clipping something onto my nice new vents. Buuuut after driving around without any kind of cell phone holder in my car for over a year, I think I'm ready to move past my car clutter snobbery and ask for one of these bad boys.
Car Mount
Brit has been using one in his car and honestly, I get a little envious when I see him simply set his phone into place, right at eye level, without having to attach, clip, or balance anything {DO NOT TELL HIM I SAID THIS!! This is the classic "he was right, I was wrong" situation, and I do not like admitting I'm wrong. Especially to him!} So, if you drive, use Waze {or any other GPS app} add this convenience to your list this year and make car rides just a little less stressful.

As you can see, this list isn't full of the most expensive organizing gear. I'm not a huge fan of spending a lot of money and I don't think you need to in order to save time. Yes, my wish list has items that only cost $2 on it. I'm easy to please, guys. A packet of Velcro Ties, and I'm happy.

I'm planning to check in next week with a little holiday home tour {check out 2015 and 2014 tours}. Until then, have a safe and happy weekend! Note: this is not a sponsored post. I just love all of these products!

Thanks for visiting!
