Laundry To-Go: A Simple Laundry Caddy

Hello. Good morning. Happy Monday {ugh}. So this post is for those special folks who don't own a washer & dryer. Those lucky individuals who have to trek their heavy, dirty laundry around, along with all of those laundry supplies {I'm talking to you apartment dwellers}. Brit and I are seriously blessed in the fact that we have laundry units in our building and don't have to send our laundry out {$$$} or haul it to a Laundromat each week. But we do have to drag everything down to the laundry room {I know, poor us}. This may not sound like a lot of work but when you're carrying pounds upon pounds of dirty clothing and all your laundry supplies, it becomes a bit more of a bother.

I absolutely despise doing laundry, and this is one of the main reasons. Picture this: holding a laundry bag in one hand, soap on the middle finger, fabric softener on the ring finger, stain remover on the pinky, dryer sheets under the arm and laundry card in my mouth, keeping the thumb and pointer finger available to open doors {yup, no lie, this is how I do did it}. Obviously, changes had to be made.

I grabbed this little guy at Bed Bath & Beyond for $5, yes five dolla-roos! Since shower caddies are typically purchased by dorm dwellers, and move-in time has passed, these babies are on serious sale right now {find the Shower Caddy here}.
Here's the easy part. Fill it. Our detergents fit perfectly inside each unit of this shower caddy. As always, I recommend measuring before purchasing anything. Here are the products we use.
The laundry soap and fabric softener are Ultra and Ajax bottles {I think}. We have actually be using the same bottles for a while. We just refill them with whatever we buy at Costco. Since these bottles are smaller than average, they were easier to carry.
I took the dryer sheets out of the box so that they're easier to grab, and since we use a Costco size box of bounce {yes, we love Costco} the box is too big to fit in the space.
There is even a nice little slot for our laundry card {or a place to stash some quarters/tokens if those are used}. And now laundry time is simple-ish again!

This little organizing project took a total of about 2 minutes, probably less actually. And cost? I mean does it get better than $5 for less hassle and stress? I'll be honest, I was willing to pay A LOT more to save my pinky from another trip to the laundry room.

Cost: $5. I can't say it enough. Five sweet, little, finger-saving dollars.
Time: Less than the average commercial break.

Now what to do with the time and money I've saved? Hmm, a manicure seems quite fitting.

How do you keep your laundry system organized? Do you have to venture far to do your laundry?
