Hello and
welcome to my blog! Thank you SO very much for taking the time to visit and
join me in my organizing adventures.
I couldn't be more excited to begin this organizing business. I have always loved
organizing and arranging things {I used to organize my Barbie shoes based on
color and occasion; it may be a sickness!}. Organizing is truly a passion of
mine. However, it was not until recently that I felt able to pursue my dream of
becoming an organizer. I work full-time, so while this is a sideline endeavor,
if a dream job is doing what you love, my dream job is being personal
organizer.
In January,
I "officially" started my own organizing business {if you're in the NYC metro area and need an organizer, feel free to
contact me!}. Call it a New Year's resolution if you will. I knew I had always
wanted to start doing this, and there's no better time than the present, right?
In telling friends and family about my business, I realized just how much I
LOVED even talking about organizing {sad, but true}. So I decided to take a
stab at the blogging world. What better way to continue doing what I love while
potentially growing my business?
I decided
to title this blog The Realistic Organizer for a couple of reasons. One, organizing
doesn't come easily to everyone; however, everyone can learn,
as long as they're willing to devote a little bit of time, practice, and
patience. My hope is that I can
show some small, simple solutions to organizing a home and making a space as
manageable as you want it {and you can teach me some things along the way as
well!}.
Reason number two, when
browsing through a catalog or Pinterest do you ever say “I want that look!” or
“Why don’t my things look like that?”? I know I do! The truth is that
many of those things take a lot of work and dedication, and at times, a lot of money. Money
is something you either have, or you don’t, and not everyone is willing to
spend their spare change at the Container Store {although I could spend my
paycheck and still want more!} My goal is to explore ways to organize on a small
budget yet still manage to have that “look”. Having an organized space can
bring sanity and clarity to your life, but it should never bring debt!
I want to
make sure I take a moment to say thank you to my family and friends who have
supported me and encouraged me to make this decision to follow my dream. I
definitely need to thank my live-in boyfriend, Simon {who will be known on here
as "Brit", due to an early nickname in our relationship that just
seems to have stuck}. He has fallen victim to NUMEROUS organizing adventures
and, although I'm certain he thinks I'm crazy, has supported me and trusted me
all the way.
I hope you
visit again to see what is to come! My next entry will focus on the changing of
the seasons, {spring is finally here} and how much a little seasonal switch can
help save space and sanity in your home. And please, please, please, leave comments
or questions about things you would like to see, and I'll do my best to accommodate!
Thank you again for visiting and for reading my very first blog.
Hope to see
you back soon!
If there ever was a calling that someone has, this is yours. I can't wait to read more tips and tricks and laugh with you along the way! I'm so excited for you in your new business and blog. What a way to get more organized, so to speak. Hehe. I already want to read more and can't wait!
